LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH

• A baby born in year 2024, 2025 and 2026 on average is expected to live until 74.9 years, 75.2 years and 75.5 years, respectively.
• A baby boy born in year 2024, 2025 and 2026 on average is expected to live until 72.6 years, 73.0 years and 73.2 years, respectively.
• A baby girl born in year 2024, 2025 and 2026 on average is expected to live until 77.5 years, 77.8 years and 78.1 years, respectively.

LIFE EXPECTANCY AT SPECIFIC AGE

AT AGE 15 YEARS

• Males who reach the age of 15 years in 2026 is expected to live another 59.0 years.
• Females who reach the age of 15 years in 2026 is expected to live another 63.7 years.

AT AGE 60 YEARS

• Males who reach the age of 60 years in 2026 is expected to live another 18.9 years.
• Females who reach the age of 60 years in 2026 is expected to live another 21.7 years.

AT AGE 65 YEARS

• Males who reach the age of 65 years in 2026 is expected to live another 15.4 years.
• Females who reach the age of 65 years in 2026 is expected to live another 17.7 years.

LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY MAJOR ETHNIC GROUP

• Chinese remains having the highest life expectancy at birth for 2024 to 2026.

LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY STATE

• Selangor recorded the highest life expectancy at birth for 2024 to 2026 while Terengganu recorded the lowest life expectancy at birth for the same period.

LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY MAJOR ETHNIC GROUP BY STATE 

• Life expectancy at birth for Malay and Chinese was the highest in Selangor as compared to other states in 2026.

LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY ADMINISTRATIVE DISTRICTS

• At the administrative district level, Samarahan, Sarawak, recorded the highest life expectancy at birth for three consecutive years, increasing from 80.3 years in 2024 to 80.6 years in 2025 and 80.9 years in 2026. In contrast, Kecil Lojing, Kelantan recorded the lowest life expectancy at birth in 2024 (65.3 years), 2025 (66.2 years) and 2026 (65.8 years).
