  • A baby born in year 2022, 2023 and 2024 on average is expected to live until 73.8 years, 74.0 years and 75.2 years, respectively.
  • A baby boy born in year 2022, 2023 and 2024 on average is expected to live until 71.5 years, 71.8 years and 73.0 years, respectively.
  • A baby girl born in year 2022, 2023 and 2024 on average is expected to live until 76.4 years, 76.6 years and 77.8 years, respectively.


LIFE EXPECTANCY AT SPECIFIC AGE


AT AGE 15 YEARS

  • Males who reach the age of 15 years in 2024 is expected to live another 58.8 years.
  • Females who reach the age of 15 years in 2024 is expected to live another 63.4 years.


AT AGE 60 YEARS

  • Males who reach the age of 60 years in 2024 is expected to live another 18.6 years.
  • Females who reach the age of 60 years in 2023 is expected to live another 21.4 years.


AT AGE 65 YEARS

  • Males who reach the age of 65 years in 2023 is expected to live another 15.1 years.
  • Females who reach the age of 65 years in 2023 is expected to live another 17.4 years.


LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY MAJOR ETHNIC GROUP

Chinese remains having the highest life expectancy at birth for 2022 to 2024.


LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY STATE

Selangor recorded the highest life expectancy at birth for 2022 to 2024 while Terengganu recorded the lowest life expectancy at birth for the same period.


LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY MAJOR ETHNIC GROUP BY STATE

Life expectancy at birth for Other Bumiputera, Chinese and Indians except Malay was the highest in W.P. Labuan as compared to other states in 2024.


LIFE EXPECTANCY AT BIRTH BY ADMINISTRATIVE DISTRICTS

Petaling, Selangor recorded the highest life expectancy (80.2 years) for 2024, while Samarahan, Sarawak recorded the highest life expectancy at birth for 2022 (79.5 years) and 2023 (79.6 years) at district level. Meanwhile, Kuala Penyu, Sabah recorded the lowest life expectancy at birth for 2022 (63.7 years), 2023 (63.3 years) and 2024 (63.4years)
