The survey was conducted by the Department of Statistics, Malaysia to collect key statistics of domestic tourism in terms of volume and value such as number of domestic visitors, number of domestic travel trips and total domestic visitor spending. In addition, the survey also collects information on domestic tourism travel pattern and demographic profiles of domestic visitors. The survey was conducted throughout the states in Malaysia covering urban and rural strata. The data collection method used was face-to-face interviews with respondents in selected living quarters. The data are collected on a monthly basis.
