Natural Rubber (NR) production increased by 20.1 per cent in May 2024 (25,608 tonnes) as compared to April 2024 (21,325 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR increased by 6.1 per cent (May 2023: 24,126 tonnes). Production of NR in May 2024 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (88.2%) as compared to estates sector (11.8%).
Total stocks of NR in May 2024 decreased by 16.9 per cent to 175,368 tonnes as compared to 211,119 tonnes in April 2024. Rubber processors factory contributed 91.4 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (8.5%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 50,796 tonnes in May 2024, increased 6.3 per cent as against April 2024 (47,795 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 39.2 per cent of total exports in May 2024 followed by India (10.6%), Germany (9.4%), the United Arab Emirates (6.5%) and the United States of America (4.6%).
