Natural Rubber (NR) production decreased by 9.2 per cent in March 2024 (26,966 tonnes) as compared to February 2024 (29,691 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR decreased by 0.8 per cent (March 2023: 27,188 tonnes). Production of NR in March 2024 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (88.5%) as compared to estates sector (11.5%).
Total stocks of NR in March 2024 decreased by 3.3 per cent to 222,455 tonnes as compared to 229,940 tonnes in February 2024. Rubber processors factory contributed 92.4 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (7.5%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 58,965 tonnes in March 2024, increased 7.0 per cent as against February 2024 (55,083 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 48.9 per cent of total exports in March 2024 followed by Germany (9.3%), the United Arab Emirates (9.2%), India (6.9%) and Pakistan (4.5%).
Analysis of the average monthly price showed that Concentrated Latex recorded an increase of 8.2 per cent (March 2024: 740.37 sen per kg; February 2024: 684.19 sen per kg) while Scrap increased by 5.9 per cent (March 2024: 640.54 sen per kg; February 2024: 604.59 sen per kg). Prices for all Standard Malaysian Rubber (S.M.R) increased between 4.2 per cent to 8.1 per cent.
The performance of the first
quarter of 2024 showed natural rubber production decreased by 7.5 per cent to
86,944 tonnes as compared to 93,956 tonnes in the fourth quarter of 2023. The
annual performance of Malaysia's natural rubber production in the first quarter
of 2024 recorded an increase of 3.7 per cent as compared to the first quarter
2023 (83,848 tonnes).
