Natural Rubber (NR) production decreased by 0.2 per cent in January 2024 (30,273 tonnes) as compared to December 2023 (30,342 tonnes). Year-on-year comparison showed that the production of NR increased by 2.8 per cent (January 2023: 29,451 tonnes). Production of NR in January 2024 for Malaysia was mainly contributed by smallholders sector (88.3%) as compared to estates sector (11.7%).
Total stocks of NR in January 2024 increased by 6.5 per cent to 203,772 tonnes as compared to 191,304 tonnes in December 2023. Rubber processors factory contributed 92.0 per cent of the stocks followed by rubber consumers factory (7.9%) and rubber estates (0.1%).
Exports of Malaysia's NR amounted to 43,111 tonnes in January 2024, decreased 5.4 per cent as against December 2023 (45,591 tonnes). P.R. China remained as the main destination for NR exports which accounted 32.0 per cent of total exports in January 2024 followed by the United Arab Emirates (13.5%), Germany (13.0%), the United States of America (7.3%) and India (6.3%).
