Introduction

This Bulletin of Malaysia’s Domestic Tourism Survey (DTS) presents domestic tourism performance for the second quarter of 2026, covering statistics on the number of domestic visitors and total domestic tourism expenditure. 


Performance of Domestic Tourism in Second Quarter 2026

Domestic tourism in Malaysia recorded 76.9 million domestic visitors in the second quarter of 2026, an increase of 4.3 per cent compared with the same quarter of 2025. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the number of domestic visitors increased by 3.0 per cent compared with the first quarter of 2026. Meanwhile, the number of domestic tourists in the second quarter of 2026 also increased by 7.9 per cent compared with the second quarter of 2025, recording a total of 29.6 million tourists.

Correspondingly, domestic tourism expenditure amounted to RM32.8 billion in the second quarter of 2026, increasing by 12.3 per cent compared with the same quarter of the previous year. However, on a quarter-on-quarter basis, domestic tourism expenditure declined by 3.6 per cent.
