Overview

The Export Unit Value Index increased by 0.3 per cent in June 2026, mainly contributed by an increase in the Animal & Vegetable Oils & Fats index


Exports

The export unit value index  increased by 0.3 per cent in June 2026, attributed to increases in the index of animal & vegetable oils & fats (+2.6%), miscellaneous manufactured articles (+1.1%) and manufactured goods (+0.7%).  The export volume index decreased by 3.5 per cent in line with decreases in the indices of miscellaneous manufactured articles (-6.5%), chemicals (-5.6%) and machinery & transport equipment (-5.6%). Seasonally adjusted export volume index decreased by 3.0 per cent from 213.2 points to 206.8 points.

Referring to the annual comparison, both the export unit value index and the volume index expanded by 7.6 per cent and 35.2 per cent respectively.


Imports

The import unit value index decreased by 1.3 per cent in June 2026, mainly due to declines in the indices of mineral fuels (-7.0%), animal & vegetable oils & fats (-1.0%) and chemicals (-0.2%). Meanwhile, the import volume index increased by 14.7 per cent in Jun 2026 as compared to the previous month, driven by increases in the indices of mineral fuels (+35.0%), machinery & transport equipment (+14.7%) and manufactured goods (+10.5%). The seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 14.1 per cent from 175.1 points to 199.7 points.

A year-on-year comparison showed that the import unit value index and the import volume index increased by 5.2 per cent and 36.8 per cent respectively.


Terms of trade

Malaysia's terms of trade increased by 1.6 per cent month-on-month to 124.3 points in June 2026, due to an increase in the index of mineral fuels (+7.8%), animal & vegetable oils & fats (+3.6%) and miscellaneous manufactured articles (+1.1%). Meanwhile, Malaysia’s terms of trade also increased by 2.2 per cent  year-on-year to 124.3 points compared with 121.5 points in June of the previous year.
