Pulau Pinang dominated the nation’s exports, accounting for 48.4 per cent of Malaysia’s total exports in July 2026

• Pulau Pinang, Johor and Selangor accounted for 79.4 per cent of Malaysia’s total trade in July 2026.
• Malaysia’s total trade in July 2026 amounted to RM364.7 billion, with exports and imports valued at RM193.6 billion and RM171.1 billion, respectively. Pulau Pinang remained the leading exporting state, accounting for 48.4 per cent of Malaysia’s total exports, followed by Johor (19.1%), Selangor (14.7%), Sarawak (5.2%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (2.9%). Pulau Pinang also recorded the largest share of Malaysia’s imports at 30.0 per cent, followed by Selangor (23.4%), Johor (22.9%), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (9.6%) and Kedah (3.9%).
• Malaysia’s exports in July 2026 increased by RM53.5 billion (+38.2%) compared with July 2025. The increase was mainly attributed to higher exports in Pulau Pinang (+RM40.4 billion), Johor (+RM10.1 billion) and Selangor (+RM3.7 billion), followed by Sarawak (+RM1.6 billion), Perak (+RM511.9 million), Kedah (+RM511.0 million), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (+RM507.0 million), Kelantan (+RM153.7 million) and Negeri Sembilan (+RM35.0 million).
• However, exports decreased in Perlis (-RM31.1 million), Melaka (-RM156.9 million), Terengganu (-RM208.8 million), W.P. Labuan (-RM405.1 million), Pahang (-RM1.0 billion) and Sabah (-RM1.9 billion).
• Malaysia’s imports in July 2026 increased by RM45.7 billion (+36.4%) compared with July 2025. The increase was mainly attributed to higher imports in Pulau Pinang (+RM21.8 billion), Selangor (+RM7.8 billion), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (+RM7.3 billion) and Johor (+RM7.3 billion), followed by Kedah (+RM1.5 billion), Sarawak (+RM810.2 million), Pahang (+RM789.5 million), Negeri Sembilan (+RM594.3 million), Sabah (+RM268.5 million), Perak (+RM180.3 million) and W.P. Labuan (+RM145.6 million).
• However, imports decreased in Terengganu (-RM4.0 million), Kelantan (-RM24.7 million), Perlis (-RM43.9 million) and Melaka (-RM1.3 billion).
