Overview

Volume Index of Services posted 5.6 per cent growth in third quarter 2024, continuing positive trend from the previous quarter. This performance was attributed to the growth in Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage and Accommodation segment (4.6%), followed by Business services and Finance segment (6.2%), Information & communication and Transportation & storage segment (6.3%), and Other services segment (8.6%).

For quarter-on-quarter comparison, volume index of Services recorded a 2.5 per cent increase to record 155.9 points. This growth was supported by the increase in Business services and Finance segment (4.3%), followed by Other services segment (2.7%), Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage and Accommodation segment (1.9%), and Information & communication and Transportation & storage segment (1.5%).

Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted volume index for this sector grew 1.6 per cent to stand at 148.9 points in the third quarter of 2024.
