Overview

Volume index of Services experienced a robust 6.7 per cent growth in second quarter 2024, recording 152.2 points. This performance was attributed to the growth in Business services and Finance segment (10.4%), followed by Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage and Accommodation segment (5.1%), Information & communication and Transportation & storage segment (6.0%), and Other services segment (7.4%).

For quarter-on-quarter comparison, volume index of Services had a 1.2 per cent increase to record 152.2 points. This growth was supported by the increase in Wholesale & retail trade, Food & beverage and Accommodation segment (1.6%), followed by Information & communication and Transportation & storage segment (1.8%), and Other services segment (0.9%). However, Business services and Finance segment decreased -0.1 per cent.

 Meanwhile, the seasonally adjusted volume index for this sector grew 3.9 per cent to stand at 146.1 points in the second quarter of 2024.
