Malaysia’s total trade in services increased by 11.5 per cent to RM550.5 billion in 2025 (2024: RM493.6 billion), contributing 27.2 per cent to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices.
Exports of services registered growth of 15.6 per cent to RM277.9 billion compared to RM240.5 billion in the previous year. Concurrently, imports rose to RM272.6 billion, an increase of 7.7 per cent from 2024 (RM253.1 billion). As the growth in exports surpassed imports, the services account returned to a surplus of RM5.3 billion in 2025, reversing a prolonged deficit trend and marking the first services surplus since 2011.
Asia continued to be the main destination for Malaysia’s services exports in 2025, accounting for 66.8 per cent of total exports, valued at RM185.6 billion. Asia was also the largest source of services imports, contributing 52.3 per cent or RM142.6 billion of total imports.
Singapore,
the United States of America (USA) and China were the three main destinations
for Malaysia’s services exports in 2025. On the imports front, the main sources
were from the USA, Singapore and China.
