SERVICES PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (2010=100)
FIRST QUARTER 2026
- The SPPI
increased by 2.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2026, up from 1.0 per cent in the previous quarter.
- The
Accommodation and food & beverage service activities index rose by 5.7 per cent, following a 3.1 per cent in the previous quarter. This increase
was driven by increases in the Restaurant and mobile food service activities
index (5.2%) and Beverage service activities (3.1%). The Transportation index
increased by 3.8 per cent, up from 2.2 per cent in the previous quarter, mainly
due to a 6.4 per cent rise in the Passenger Air Transport index. The Education
also recorded an increase of 1.9 per cent, compared to a 1.5 per cent increase
in the previous quarter, supported by Secondary Education (1.7%) and Higher
Education (1.5%). Other indices that registered increases were Arts,
entertainment & recreation (1.6%), Health (1.5%), Professional (1.0%) and
Real estate activities (0.6%).
- Meanwhile,
the Information & communication index recorded a marginal increase of 0.1
per cent, rebounding from a 0.1 per cent decline in the fourth quarter of 2025,
due to the Computer programming, consultancy and related activities index
(0.8%).
- On a
quarter-on-quarter basis, the SPPI increased by 1.4 per cent, from a 0.3 per cent increase in the previous quarter. This increase was mainly
contributed by Arts, entertainment & recreation index (6.3%) and
Accommodation and food & beverage service activities (3.5%). Other
contributing sectors included were Transportation (1.6%), Education (1.1%),
Health (1.0%) and Professional (0.8%). Meanwhile, Real estate activities and
Information & communication indices recorded marginal increases of 0.4 per cent and 0.2 per cent, respectively.
