Services sector revenue advances by 11.2 per cent to RM714.7 billion in the second quarter of 2026

The Services sector expanded by 11.2 per cent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, with revenue reaching RM714.7 billion. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, revenue in the Services sector increased by 4.9 per cent compared to the first quarter of 2026.

In terms of labour market developments, the total employment in the Services sector increased by 2.3 per cent year-on-year to 4.7 million persons. The increase was mainly supported by the Transportation & Storage and Personal & Other Services Activities subsectors, which recorded employment growth of 4.3 per cent and 3.6 per cent, respectively. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, employment increased by 0.2 per cent, equivalent to an additional 11.6 thousand persons.

Meanwhile, total salaries & wages rose by 4.8 per cent year-on-year to RM35.6 billion, with the Real Estate and Food & Beverage subsectors each recording growth of 9.9 per cent. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, total salaries & wages increased by 1.0 per cent.
