Producer Price Index (2010=100) by Sector (MSIC 2008)

Year-on-year comparison showed that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for local production went up 2.2 per cent in November 2016. The highest increase was recorded by Agriculture, forestry & fishing index (+26.7%) followed by Electricity & gas (+3.0%), Manufacturing (+0.6%) and Water supply (+0.4%). In contrast the index for Mining decreased by 4.8 per cent. [Table I]

The PPI for local production inclined by 1.1 per cent in November 2016 compared to October 2016. This was due to increases in two sectors namely, Agriculture, forestry & fishing (+6.0%) and Manufacturing (+1.1%). However, the index for Mining, Water supply and Electricity & gas recorded a decrease of 4.3 per cent, 0.9 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively.

The PPI for local production by stage of processing (SOP) inclined by 1.1 per cent in November 2016 compared to the previous month. This inclination was due to increases in the indices for Intermediate materials, supplies and components (+2.0%) and Crude materials for further processing (+0.1%). Meanwhile, the index for Finished goods remained unchanged. [Table II]

As compared with the same month a year ago, the PPI for local production by SOP for November 2016 increased by 2.2 per cent. This was due to an increase in index for Crude materials for further processing (+10.7%) and Intermediate materials, supplies and components (+0.6%). However, the index for Finished goods dropped by 0.1 per cent.
