Malaysia's trade performance sustained a positive trend in June 2026, consistent with the double digit rise in export (+45.4%) and imports (+43.9%), year-on-year (y-o-y). Total trade increased by RM105.3 billion or 44.7 per cent, reached RM340.9 billion.
Furthermore, trade balance rose by 64.9 per cent or RM5.9 billion from RM9.0 billion to RM14.9 billion as compared to the same period in the previous year.
The monthly comparison shows that imports and total trade increased by 13.2 per cent, and 4.0 per cent, respectively. However exports and trade surplus declined by 3.2 per cent, and 62.7 per cent, respectively.
Total trade, exports, imports and trade surplus all showed positive trend from January to June 2026, compared to the corresponding period in the previous year. Total trade climbed by 22.4 per cent to RM1.8 trillion, driven by increases in exports (+27.5%) and imports (+16.9%). In addition, trade surplus up by 159.8 per cent to RM147.1 billion.

Performance of Exports
Malaysia’s exports surged by 45.4 per cent y-o-y to RM177.9 billion in June 2026.
The encouraging export growth was mainly contributed by the increase in domestic exports and re-exports. Domestic exports valued at RM138.6 billion (77.9% of total exports), uplift by 44.6 per cent or RM42.7 billion.
Re-exports (22.1% of total exports) expanded 48.7 per cent or RM12.9 billion from RM26.4 billion to RM39.3 billion.
Alongside this, monthly comparison showed exports decreased by 3.2 per cent or RM6.0 billion from RM184.0 billion to RM177.9 billion. Based on month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms analysis, exports declined 8.8 per cent to RM172.6 billion.


Performance of Imports
Imports recorded double-digit growth of 43.9 per cent or RM49.7 billion, rising from RM113.3 billion to RM163.0 billion in June 2026. On a m-o-m basis, imports up by 13.2 per cent or RM19.0 billion.
According to the m-o-m seasonally adjusted terms analysis, imports increased 17.3 per cent to RM164.0 billion.
Imports by End Use increased, y-o-y, with an increase in intermediate goods (+14.4%), capital goods (+41.3%) and consumption goods (+17.2%).
