Malaysia’s external trade performance remained robust in February 2026, with total trade in goods rising by 9.5 per cent, or RM21.3 billion, to RM245.2 billion compared with the same month last year.
Exports rose by 10.8 per cent or RM12.7 billion to RM131.0 billion, while imports expanded by 8.2 per cent or RM8.6 billion to RM114.2 billion, year-on-year (y-o-y). Consequently, the trade balance valued at RM16.7 billion registered a surplus, widening by RM4.1 billion compared to February 2025.
On a month-on-month (m-o-m) comparison showed exports, imports, total trade and trade balance declined by 10.8 per cent, 8.5 per cent, 9.8 per cent and 23.9 per cent, respectively, compared to January 2026.

Performance of Exports
Exports continued to strengthen with a double-digit increase of 10.8 per cent or RM12.7 billion to reach RM131.0 billion, y-o-y.
The encouraging export growth was in line with increases in both re-exports and domestic exports. Re-exports valued at RM26.6 billion and accounting for 20.3 per cent of total exports, surged by 24.8 per cent or RM5.3 billion. Domestic exports also increased by 7.7 per cent or RM7.4 billion to RM104.3 billion, and represented 79.7 per cent of total exports.
Meanwhile, on a m-o-m comparison, exports declined by 10.8 per cent or RM15.9 billion. However, based on m-o-m seasonally adjusted terms analysis, exports decreased by 6.2 per cent to RM145.6 billion.


Performance of Imports
Malaysia’s imports continued to record growth, rising by 8.2 per cent or RM8.6 billion in February 2026. This increase brought total imports to RM114.2 billion compared with the value recorded in the same month of the previous year. On a m-o-m comparison showed imports declined by 8.5 per cent or RM10.6 billion.
Based on seasonally adjusted m-o-m analysis, imports expended by 2.2 per cent to RM127.9 billion.
On a y-o-y basis, imports by End Use recorded positive growth for capital goods (+RM2.1 billion, +15.4%), intermediate goods (+RM474.5 million, +0.8%), and consumption goods (+RM136.7 million, +1.5%).
