Overview

In 2022, total commodity supply and use reached RM5.6 trillion, an increase of 20.0 per cent compared to 2021.

Domestic production remained the largest component of total supply, accounting for 77.5 per cent, followed by imports at 22.5 per cent and net taxes on products at 0.04 per cent.

With regard to use, intermediate consumption accounted for 45.1 per cent, while final use represented the remaining 54.9 per cent, comprising private final consumption, government final consumption, gross capital formation and exports.

Total value added increased by 18.9 per cent to approximately RM1.8 trillion in 2022. The Services sector was the main contributor with 52.6 per cent, followed by Manufacturing sector at 25.2 per cent.
