CAPITAL STOCK STATISTICS 2025

Gross Capital Stock (GKS) which represents the accumulated fixed assets recorded at RM6.0 trillion with a growth of 3.9 per cent in 2025. Meanwhile, Productive Capital Stock (PKS) measures the productive assets, grew by 4.1 per cent (2024: 3.8%), amounted to RM5.0 trillion. Concurrently, Net Capital Stock (NKS) indicates the total national capital assets rose to 4.2 per cent with a value of RM3.7 trillion. The Consumption of Fixed Capital (COFC) statistics which reflects the assets used up in production activities expanded 4.3 per cent to RM258.3 billion.


NET CAPITAL STOCK BY KIND OF ECONOMIC ACTIVITY

The NKS registered a growth of 4.2 per cent from 3.8 per cent in the preceding year. The growth was spurred by the Services sector with an increase of 4.9 per cent (2024: 4.5%), followed by the Manufacturing sector which grew by 5.5 per cent (2024: 4.8%). Meanwhile, the Mining & quarrying and the Agriculture sectors increased by 0.4 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively. Construction sector grew at 4.0 per cent in 2025 (Chart 1).

The Services sector remained the largest contributor accounting for 70.0 per cent (RM2.6 trillion) of the NKS. The contribution of Services sector was driven by the Finance, insurance, real estate & business services (34.4%) and Transportation & storage and information & communication (19.2%) sub-sectors. Meanwhile, the Utilies sub-sector contributed 11.5 per cent to NKS of Services sector.

The Manufacturing sector with a value of RM451.4 billion contributed 12.1 per cent to the total NKS. This was primarily driven by the Petroleum, chemical, rubber & plastic products sub-sector (36.4%) and followed by the Electrical, electronic & optical products sub-sector (33.1%). Besides that, the Food, beverages & tobacco sub-sector constituted 11.8 per cent to the NKS of Manufacturing sector.




NET CAPITAL STOCK BY TYPE OF ASSETS

NKS was dominated by Structure with a share of 81.0 per cent, grew at 4.1 per cent from 3.8 per cent in the preceding year. This was followed by Machinery & equipment which was contributed 11.4 per cent and increased 6.6 per cent. Meanwhile, Other assets contributed 7.6 per cent and posted 1.6 per cent growth in 2025 as illustrated in Chart 2.
