Overview

In the second quarter of 2025, the volume index of Wholesale & retail trade recorded a year-on-year increase of 4.3 per cent, reaching 162.1 points. This growth was mainly supported by strong performances in the Wholesale trade and Retail trade sub-sectors, which expanded by 6.2 per cent and 3.7 per cent, respectively. Meanwhile, the Motor vehicles sub-sector registered a marginal increase of 0.2 per cent. On a quarterly basis, the overall volume index rebounded by 1.7 per cent as compared to the preceding quarter.

For seasonally adjusted volume index, Wholesale & retail trade sector posted a positive growth of 1.8 per cent as against the first quarter of 2025. The increase was driven by Motor vehicles (16.2%) and Wholesale trade (2.4%).
