FIVE PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCIES IN SARAWAK RECORDED LOW POPULATION DENSITY, FEWER THAN 10 PERSONS PER SQUARE KILOMETRE


  • Three out of 222 parliamentary constituencies in Selangor recorded the highest populations namely P.102 Bangi with a total population of 708.3 thousand persons followed by P.111 Kota Raja and P.104 Subang with 538.9 thousand persons and 492.6 thousand persons respectively.
  • P.116 Wangsa Maju in W.P. Kuala Lumpur holds the status for the parliament with the highest population density with a total population of 13,587 persons per square kilometre. P.100 Pandan in Selangor is in second position with a density of 11,713 persons per square kilometre, while  P.050 Jelutong in Penang is in third position with a density of 11,576 persons per square kilometre. The highest percentage of Bumiputera population recorded in the P.034 Setiu with 125.4 thousand persons.
  • The highest percentage of the Chinese ethnic group was recorded in the P.114 Kepong at 72.2 per cent (64.0 thousand persons) while the parliament of P.065 Ipoh Barat was recorded the highest percentage of the Indian ethnic group at 26.0 per cent (33.5 thousand persons).
  • The parliament of P.115 Batu dominates with the highest working age population between 15 to 64 years old with 177.2 thousand persons. This is followed by the P.046 Batu Kawan with 132.3 thousand persons and the P.019 Kepong with 83.7 thousand persons. Three parliaments in Selangor recorded the highest total of the population aged 65 years and over (old age), namely P.092 Sabak Bernam (11.2 thousand persons), P.093 Sungai Besar (11.9 thousand persons) and P.095 Tanjong Karang (11.2 thousand persons). The highest total population in the young age group of 0 to 14 years was recorded in several parliaments, including P.125 Putrajaya with 43.0 thousand persons, P.032 Gua Musang with 40.8 thousand persons, and P.109 Tumpat with 61.0 thousand persons. On the other hand, the lowest total of the population in the young age group of 0 to 14 years was recorded in P.049 Tanjong with 3.8 thousand persons, P.203 Lubok Antu with 4.7 thousand persons, and P.210 Kanowit with 5.5 thousand persons.
  • The parliament of P.161 Pulai has the highest number of petrol stations with 71, the P.102 Bangi has 66 laundry shops, the P.188 Lahad Datu has 618 provision stores, the P.105 Petaling Jaya recorded 232 pharmacies and the P.104 Subang recorded 140 restaurants.
