1.  Crops Sub-Sector

1.1 Production

The production of country’s staple food crops i.e paddy has increased by 41.0 thousand tonnes (1.6%) in 2014 as compared to the previous year. Fresh fruit bunches (oil palm) showed an increase on its production by 338.2 thousand tonnes (0.4%) while natural rubber recorded a decrease by 157.8 thousand tonnes (19.1%) in 2014.

1.2  Planted Area

In 2014, planted area for cocoa, oil palm, cocoa, paddy and rubber has increased as compared to 2013 by 2.3 thousand hectares (16.7%), 162.3 thousand hectares (3.1%), 18.0 thousand hectares (2.7%) and 2.8 thousand hectares (0.4%) respectively.

2.  Livestock Sub-sector

In 2014, the numbers of duck showed the highest increase of 12.4 per cent as compared to 2013 followed by chicken (6.4%), goat (5.0%) and cattle (1.3%).

3.   Fisheries Sub-sector

The total of marine fish landing in 2014 was 1,446.4 thousand tonnes, decreased by 2.5 per cent as compared to 2013 (1,482.9 thousand tonnes). Production of freshwater aquaculture and brackishwater aquaculture showed a decrease of 6.2 thousand tonnes (5.5%) and 38.6 thousand tonnes (8.3%) respectively as compared to the previous year.
