Main Indicators

A total of RM2,321.4 million was spent on environmental protection in 2012. Operating expenditure accounted for 63.1 per cent (RM1,463.9 million) of the total environmental protection expenditures. The rest was capital expenditure.

There were four types of environmental protection expenditures i.e. expenditure for environmental media, waste management, environmental assessment & audit and environmental charges expenditure as well as other environmental protection expenditures. Expenditure for environmental media surpassed all types of expenditure amounting to RM1,647.9 million (71.0%).

Number of establishments with environmental protection expenditure

Environmental Protection Expenditure Survey (PPPMAS) 2013 covers a total of 7,601 establishments in the agriculture, forestry & fisheries; mining & quarrying; manufacturing; construction and services sectors.
