Performance of Construction Sector, Fourth Quarter 2014 The total value of construction work done in the fourth quarter 2014 recorded a growth of 9.7 per cent year-on-year to RM27.1 billion. The quarter-on-quarter percentage change showed a highly increase of 7.1 per cent as compared to the previous quarter as shown in Table A. Chart A portrays the annual percentage change (YoY) for the fourth quarter 2011 to the fourth quarter of 2014. As shown in the chart, the construction sector recorded a positive growth since the fourth quarter of 2011. |
Construction activity by type In the fourth quarter of 2014, the highest percentage share was contributed by construction of non-residential buildings sub-sector which recorded 34.6 per cent. This was followed by civil engineering sub-sector (30.6%), residential buildings (29.7%), and special trades (5.1%) as shown in Table B. Value of construction work done by location of project |
Construction by project owner In terms of construction activity by project owner, private sector continued to dominate with share of 70.0 per cent in the third quarter of 2014 as shown in Table C. Chart D shows the trend of construction activity by project owner. |
