Overview


Malaysia’s Current Account Balance (CAB) sustained to register a surplus of RM10.8 billion in the second quarter of 2026. The moderation was mainly due to higher deficit in Primary income and a weakening in the Services account. The Goods account recorded net exports of RM40.7 billion in the second quarter of 2026 compared to RM33.6 billion in the preceding quarter. Meanwhile, the Financial account registered turned around to a net outflow of RM27.0 billion (Q1 2026net inflow of RM27.4 billion), driven by net outflows in Portfolio investment and Financial derivativesThe International Reserves increased to RM537.0 billion as at the end of Q2 2026, compared to RM511.3 billion as at the end of Q1 2026.

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) posted a net inflow of RM7.4 billion in the second quarter of 2026 (Q1 2026: net inflow of RM22.8 billion). Meanwhile, Direct Investment Abroad (DIA) recorded a net outflow of RM7.0 billion (Q1 2026: net outflow of RM8.1 billion).
