Overview

 

PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (2010=100) BY SECTOR (MSIC 2008)

The Producer Price Index (PPI) local production decreased 2.4 per cent in September 2019 to 105.3 as against 107.9 in the same month of the preceding year. The Mining index declined 14.4 per cent, followed by Water supply (-2.8%), Agriculture, forestry & fishing (-1.1%) and Manufacturing (-1.0%) indices. Meanwhile, the index of Electricity & gas supply rose 1.3 per cent.

On a monthly basis, the PPI local production rose 0.7 per cent in September 2019. The increase was supported by the Mining (6.0%) and Manufacturing (0.3%) indices. Conversely, Electricity & gas supply and Agriculture, forestry & fishing indices decreased 0.9 per cent and 0.7 per cent respectively. On the other hand, the index of Water supply was unchanged. PPI LOCAL PRODUCTION FOR THIRD QUARTER 2019

PPI local production for the third quarter 2019 decreased 2.1 per cent to 104.8 as compared to 107.1 in the same quarter of the previous year. The decline was contributed by Mining (-11.8%), Agriculture, forestry & fishing (-2.9%), Water supply (-2.8%) and Manufacturing (-1.0%) indices. Meanwhile, the index of Electricity & gas supply showed an increase of 1.7 per cent. On a quarterly basis, the PPI local production decreased 0.3 per cent as compared to the second quarter of 2019. PRODUCER PRICE INDEX BY STAGE OF PROCESSING

In September 2019, the PPI local production by stage of processing (SOP) declined 2.4 per cent as compared to September 2018. It was contributed by Crude materials for further processing (-8.5%) and Intermediate materials, supplies & components (-1.8%) indices. Conversely, the index of Finished goods rose 1.3 per cent.

On a monthly basis, the PPI local production by SOP for September 2019 increased 0.7 per cent as compared to August 2019. The increase was contributed by all stage of processing which were Crude materials for further processing (3.0%), Finished goods (0.3%) and Intermediate materials, supplies & components (0.1%) indices.
