Overview

Wholesale & retail trade sales value recorded RM170.5 billion in July 2026, registering a year-on-year growth of 9.0 per cent. This positive growth was contributed by all sub-sectors, namely Wholesale trade 11.7 per cent, Motor vehicles 7.9 per cent, and Retail trade 6.4 per cent. Meanwhile, on a month-on-month basis, sales value increased by 1.2 per cent.

In terms of volume index, Wholesale & retail trade registered a year-on-year growth of 4.1 per cent to reach 172.2 points. The increase was driven by Motor vehicles 6.2 per cent, Retail trade 4.1 per cent, and Wholesale trade 3.6 per cent. For monthly comparison, volume index increased by 1.0 per cent, contributed by Motor vehicles 5.8 per cent and Wholesale trade 1.8 per cent.
