Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales recorded RM135.3 billion, increased by11.6 per cent in September 2021

Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in September 2021 stood at RM135.3 billion, grew 11.6 per cent as compared to the same month of the previous year. The rise in sales value was driven by the Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastic Products (29.2%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (12.0%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (10.8%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 6.9 per cent.

Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in September 2021 was 2,231,406 persons, an increase of 1.6 per cent as compared to 2,195,300 persons in September 2020. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,478.8 million, increased by 3.6 per cent or RM261.2 million in September 2021 as against the same month of the preceding year. The sales value per employee increased by 9.8 per cent to record RM60,645 as compared with the same month in 2020. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,352 in September 2021.

In the third quarter 2021, the sales value of the Manufacturing sector grew 6.4 per cent to RM381.8 billion as compared to the same quarter of the previous year. The increase was driven by Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber & Plastics Products (34.2%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (8.8%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (2.9%) . The number of employees and salaries & wages rose 1.6 per cent and 2.3 per cent respectively in the third quarter 2021.
