Overview

The Export Unit Value Index contracted 0.1 per cent in November 2025 to 154.0 points


Exports

The export unit value index decreased by 0.1 per cent in November 2025 as compared to the previous month. This reduction was primarily driven by the decreased in the index of mineral fuels (-2.2%), inedible crude materials (-1.0%) and chemicals (-0.1%). Likewise, the export volume index decreased by 8.9 per cent in line with the declines in animal and vegetable oil and fats (-27.4%), machinery and transport equipment (-11.9%) and manufactured goods (-9.1%). The seasonally adjusted export volume index also declined by 6.3 per cent from 177.1 points to 165.9 points.

Nevertheless, referring to the annual comparison, both the exports unit value index and volume index expanded 3.3 per cent and 3.7 per cent respectively.

Imports

The import unit value index also declined by 0.1 per cent in November 2025, contributed by the decreases in the indices of chemicals (-0.4%), mineral fuels (-0.3%) and machinery & transport equipment (-0.1%). Meanwhile, the import volume index increased by 0.8 per cent in November 2025 as compared to the previous month, contributed by the increment in the index of machinery and transport equipment (+7.5%) and miscellaneous manufactured articles (+2.1%). The seasonally adjusted import volume index rose by 4.2 per cent from 225.0 point to 234.3 points.

A year-on-year comparison showed that the import unit value index declined by 1.9 per cent, while volume index edged up by 18.0 per cent.


Terms of trade

Malaysia's terms of trade dropped 0.02 per cent month-on-month to 123.7 points in November 2025, driven by the decrease in the index of mineral fuels (-1.9%), inedible crude materials (-1.0%) and food (-0.05%). Meanwhile, Malaysia terms of trade increased 5.2 per cent year-on-year from 117.5 points in November previous year.
