PULAU PINANG, JOHOR AND SELANGOR CONTRIBUTED 70.6 PER CENT OF EXPORTS IN JULY 2024
- Malaysia’s total trade for July 2024 amounted to RM255.9 billion with exports and imports recorded RM131.1 billion and RM124.7 billion, respectively.
- Exports was valued at RM131.1 billion in July 2024, increased RM14.4 billion (+12.3%) as compared to the same month of the previous year. The increase in exports was attributed to the higher exports in most states such as Johor (+RM5.2 billion), Selangor (+RM2.3 billion), Pulau Pinang (+RM1.9 billion), Sarawak (+RM1.8 billion), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (+RM1.3 billion), Perak (+RM1.2 billion), Terengganu (+RM1.0 billion), Kedah (+RM457.7 million), Negeri Sembilan (+RM105.2 million), Melaka (+RM63.9 million) and Pahang (+RM59.0 million). However, exports decreased in W.P. Labuan by RM1.1 billion, Sabah (-RM150.4 million), Perlis (-RM34.8 million) and Kelantan (-RM26.3 million).
- Pulau Pinang remained as the top exporter with 31.6 per cent share, followed by Johor (21.4%), Selangor (17.6%), Sarawak (7.6%) and W.P. Kuala Lumpur (4.3%).
- At the same time, imports in July 2024 increased RM25.3 billion (+25.4%) as compared to the same month in 2023. The increase in imports was attributed by the higher imports in most states such as Pulau Pinang (+RM8.4 billion), Johor (+RM5.6 billion), Selangor (+RM5.4 billion), Kedah (+RM2.3 billion), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (+RM1.5 billion), Melaka (+RM440.6 million), Perak (+RM380.8 million), Sarawak (+RM138.6 million), Kelantan (+RM81.2 million), Negeri Sembilan (+RM64.8 million), Perlis (+RM60.9 million), Terengganu (+RM55.6 million) and Pahang (+RM26.7 million). However, imports decreased in Sabah by RM43.7 million and W.P. Labuan (-RM36.8 million).
- Selangor dominates Malaysia’s imports with a share of 26.5 per cent, followed by Johor (22.7%), Pulau Pinang (22.3%), W.P. Kuala Lumpur (7.0%) and Kedah (5.8%).
