THE WEALTH OF MALAYSIA'S ECONOMY INCREASED TO RM2.3 TRILLION IN 2014
Net Capital Stock (NKS) which represents the wealth of Malaysia’s economy in terms of fixed assets expanded to RM2.3 trillion and grew by 7.4 per cent. NKS at constant prices registered RM2.1 trillion with a growth of 5.3 per cent mainly supported by Services (4.3%) and Mining & quarrying (9.7%) sectors. Services and Mining & quarrying sectors dominated the NKS with a share of 69.0 per cent and 15.9 per cent respectively (Chart 1).
By type of assets, structures was the main contributor to the NKS with a share of 65.0 per cent and registered a growth of 4.6 per cent. The share of other assets expanded to 18.8 per cent from 18.4 per cent in the preceding year (Chart 2).
