During the evening session of Day 2 at #UN55SC, Malaysia wholeheartedly supported, provided insightful suggestions, and contributed valuable opinions on crucial agenda items. The oral statement of Malaysia is as follows:

Item 3 (g): Economic Statistics

Statement: Malaysia strongly supports the Network's initiatives, including the 2023 sprint meetings that focused on innovative economic statistics with an emphasis on well-being. Malaysia agrees to continue developing metrics for measuring people's well-being. The country supports ongoing regional and global consultations, reflecting a commitment to collaborative statistical priorities. While appreciating the Network's progress, Malaysia recommends a comprehensive evaluation to ensure alignment with regional priorities and global inclusivity, emphasizing relevance for countries in the global South.

Item 3 (h): Environmental-economic accounting

Statement: Malaysia appreciates the work of the Committee of Experts on Environmental-Economic Accounting, particularly on the SEEA Central Framework and SEEA Ecosystem Accounting. They support updates to align with the 2025 System of National Accounts, emphasizing its significance for policies on climate change, the circular economy, biodiversity, and sustainable finance. Malaysia also applauds efforts in updating industry classifications and supports the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting work program for 2023-2025, highlighting the importance of capacity-building and infrastructure investment for compiling SEEA statistics.
