The Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics (FPOS) were established by UNSC in 1994 and endorsed by the General Assembly in 2014. Aimed to ensure that official statistics remain relevant, trustworthy, and effective, providing a framework for producing reliable statistics and fostering mutual understanding among nations.
#UN55SC presents an opportunity to discuss and endorse measures for promoting the adoption and implementation of FPOS among member countries. The measure enables the improvement of the principle to make it easier for member countries to comply with it. This reflects our collective commitment to upholding the highest standards in statistical practices and ensuring their effective implementation.
