The advancement of Big Data technology provided new opportunities to modernise statistical processes through Mobile Positioning Data (MPD), which could be utilized to generate tourism statistics, measure human mobility, and develop disaster response plans. Key initiatives of this workshop included enhancing awareness of MPD access and engagement with national mobile network operators (MNOs); advancing technical skills in MPD processing and analysis; and identifying opportunities to effectively leverage MPD in participants' countries.
