#UN55SC, Malaysia extends support, suggestions, and opinions on crucial agenda items.
Item 3(c) High-Level Group for Partnership, Coordination and Capacity-Building (HLG-PCCB): and

Statement: Malaysia has acknowledged and expressed support for the Report of the HLG-PCCB for Statistics related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The country also endorses the Hangzhou Declaration and looks forward to collaborative initiatives, including a new program on citizen-generated data to involve individuals and communities in data production. This citizen-generated data will be used to measure the achievements of the SDG at the local level. Malaysia has approved plans for the second phase of the realignment of the Cape Town Global Action Plan and the work on potential outcomes of the fifth UN World Data Forum. Additionally, Malaysia has welcomed and approved the proposed work plan of the HLG-PCCB for 2024, committing to participate in the United Nations World Data Forum annually.
Item 3(d) Big Data and Data Science

Statement: Malaysia commends the insightful findings of the 10-year review of the UN Committee of Experts on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics (UNCEBD). Malaysia advocates updating UNCEBD's mandate to address current needs, prioritizing capacity building, collaboration, and data quality. Malaysia applauds UNCEBD's establishment of the UN Global Platform and proposes enhancing collaboration through improved communication strategies, such as website upgrades and social media engagement. Malaysia has been actively advancing the ASEAN-Help-ASEAN Big Data Pilot Project, notably contributing to projects with Brunei and Myanmar in 2023. Malaysia remains committed to providing technical consultation services and supporting big data initiatives.
