Take home points:
APCAS 30 Side Events on Agriculture Census
- This session discussed on the implementation and preparation of Agricultures Census by the member countries:
- Most countries employ classical census methodologies, often combining these traditional approaches with administrative data to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Complete enumeration remains the primary type of census enumeration, ensuring that every individual within a population is accounted for.
- The main sources for preparing the census frame include the most recent population census, previous agricultural censuses, and various administrative data.
- Modern data collection methods such as Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI), Computer-Assisted Web Interviewing (CAWI), and postal surveys (POST) have become more prevalent, surpassing the use of Paper-and-Pencil Interviewing (PAPI), while Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviewing (CATI) is also gaining attention.
- Additionally, an increasing number of countries are leveraging advanced technologies like Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and interactive online databases to disseminate census results more effectively.
