The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between DOSM and Higher Education Institutions (IPT) aimed to establish cooperation to carry out research, sharing statistical knowledge and strengthen existing relationships towards the national development.

Through this MoU, DOSM and IPT will collaborate in data analysis and research for the benefit of both parties, sharing the analysis results and new findings, evaluate & developing the existing curriculum & courses in Malaysia Statistical Training Institute (ILSM) and faculties in IPT and any collaboration that mutually agreed and allowed by the law.

The Data Manager who represent the IPT is a coordinator between DOSM and IPT. They will monitor the usage of micro dataset. DOSM will provide micro datasets with the specific sample weights for these data; Population & Housing Census, Annual Manufacturing, Household Income, Household Expenditure, Labor Force and Salaries & Wages.

As of 2022, a total of 23 MoUs have been signed with IPT and the first MoU was signed by Universiti Malaya on 13th November 2013.
