Index Of Industrial Production, Malaysia February 2017

The Index of Industrial Production (IPI) posted a higher growth of  4.7% in February 2017 as compared to the same month of the previous year. The stronger growth in February 2017 was driven by positive expansion in all indices: Manufacturing (6.5%), Mining (0.4%) and Electricity (1.5%).

Monthly Manufacturing Statistics Malaysia, February 2017

Malaysia’s February manufacturing sales grew at the stronger pace of 15.7% (RM8.0 billion), rising to RM59.4 billion as compared to RM51.4 billion reported a year ago.

Year-on-year, the significant increase in sales value in February 2017 was due to the increase in Electrical and Electronics Products (13.8%) Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products (17.7%) and Non-metallic Mineral Products, Basic Metal and Fabricated Metal (14.2%). These three sub-sectors contributed 79.6% to the sales value of the manufacturing sector.

Report on Survey of Electricity, Gas, Steam and Air Conditioning Supply 2015

In 2014, the value of gross output registered RM55.5 billion, intermediate input RM29.9 billion and value added RM25.6 billion. The number of persons engaged was 42,913 persons with total salaries & wages paid amounted to RM2.8 billion.  Meanwhile, the value of fixed assets was RM111.7 billion.
