Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales recorded a growth of 3.7 per cent
in September 2020
Malaysia’s Manufacturing sales in September 2020 stood at RM121.2 billion, grew 3.7 per cent as compared to previous year. The rise in sales value in September 2020 was driven by the increase in Transport Equipment & Other Manufactures Products (14.3%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (14.2%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (7.2%). Meanwhile, on month-on-month basis, the sales value increased 2.3 per cent.
Total employees engaged in the Manufacturing sector in September 2020 was 2,197,970 persons, a decrease of 2.3 per cent as compared to 2,248,761 persons in September 2019. Salaries & wages paid amounted to RM7,217 million, dropped by 1.7 per cent or RM124.3 million in September 2020 as against the same month of the preceding year.
The sales value per employee rose by 6.1 per cent to record RM55,151 as compared with the same month in 2019. Meanwhile, the average salaries & wages per employee was RM3,283 in September 2020.
In the third quarter 2020, sales value of the Manufacturing sector grew 2.4 per cent to RM358.8 billion as compared to the same quarter of previous year. The increase was driven by Transport Equipment & Other Manufactures Products (14.1%), Food, Beverages & Tobacco Products (13.8%) and Electrical & Electronics Products (7.2%). The number of employees and salaries & wages dropped 2.3 per cent and 2.7 per cent respectively in the third quarter 2020.
