ICT’S CONTRIBUTION TO ECONOMY INCREASED 17.8 PER CENT
ICT made a substantial contribution to the nation’s economy with a share of 17.8 per cent. ICTGDP accounted for 13.1 per cent while e-Commerce for non ICT industry contributed 4.7 per cent as shown in Chart.
ICTGDP CONTINUED DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH
The total value of ICTGDP increased to RM152.1 billion (2014: RM137.7 billion) and recorded double-digit growth of 10.5 per cent. ICTGDP was led by ICT services with a share of 40.4 per cent and mainly driven by telecommunications services.
e-COMMERCE GREW BY 7.3 PER CENT
The value added of e-Commerce amounted to RM68.3 billion and grew by 7.3 per cent. e-Commerce accounted for 5.9 per cent of the GDP.
ICT MANUFACTURING RECORDED THE HIGHEST EMPLOYMENT
ICT industry employed 1.06 million persons and contributed 7.6 per cent to the total employment in Malaysia. Employment in the ICT industry was dominated by ICT manufacturing with the share of 38.4 per cent.
