Performance Review – Indices (September 2020)

Without steel bars:

As compared to the previous month, the BCI in Peninsular Malaysia for region A (Pulau Pinang, Kedah & Perlis), B (Perak) and E (Pahang) increased between 0.1 and 0.3 per cent for almost all categories of building. In contrast, the BCI in region D (Johor) and F (Terengganu & Kelantan) decreased between 0.1 and 0.3 per cent for almost all building categories. The BCI in region C (Selangor, W.P. Kuala Lumpur, Melaka & Negeri Sembilan) remained unchanged as in the previous month.

The BCI in Kuching decreased between 0.1 and 0.2 per cent for almost all building categories. The BCI in Sibu and Miri increased between 0.1 and 0.5 per cent for almost all categories of building. However, a decrease of 0.3 per cent occurred in Miri for (R.C.) Piling.

With steel bars:

The BCI in Kuching decreased between 0.1 and 0.3 per cent for almost all building categories. The BCI in Sibu and Miri increased between 0.1 and 0.5 per cent for almost all categories of building. However, a decrease of 0.1 per cent occurred in Miri for (R.C.) Piling.

Changes in Unit Price Indices (September 2020)

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region throughout Malaysia are shown in Table 1.
