Performance Review – Indices (September 2021)

Without steel bars:

The BCI for all region in Peninsular Malaysia recorded an increase between 0.1 and 2.0 per cent for all building categories in September 2021 as compared to the previous month.

The BCI in all 3 regions in Sabah increased between 0.1 and 3.4 per cent for all categories of building.

The BCI in Miri recorded an increase between 0.4 and 1.5 per cent for all building categories. Meanwhile, the BCI in Kuching increased 0.1 per cent for 2−4 Storey (R.C.) Building (Flat Roof) and Timber Building. The BCI in Sibu recorded no changes.

With steel bars:

The BCI with steel bars in September 2021 as compared to preceding month for all regions in Peninsular Malaysia increased between 0.1 to 1.1 per cent for almost all building categories.

The BCI in Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau increased between 0.1 and 3.4 per cent for all categories of building.

The BCI in Kuching and Miri increased between 0.1 and 1.7 per cent for all categories of building. Meanwhile, the BCI in Sibu showed no changes as compared to the previous month.

Changes in Unit Price Indices (September 2021)

The changes in unit price indices of building materials by region across Malaysia are shown in Table 1.
