Consumer Price Index in 2017 rose by 3.7%

Producer Price Index Malaysia June 2019

PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (2010=100) BY SECTOR (MSIC 2008)

The Producer Price Index (PPI) local production decreased 1.8 per cent in June 2019 as compared to the same month of the preceding year. The decline was led by the index of Agriculture, forestry & fishing (-9.2%), Mining (-6.4%), Water supply (-1.8%) and Manufacturing (-0.8%). Meanwhile, the index of Electricity & gas supply edged up by 1.8 per cent.

As compared to the previous month, the PPI local production declined 0.9 per cent in June 2019. Index of Mining registered the highest rate of decline at 8.7 per cent, followed by Manufacturing (-0.3%), Electricity & gas supply (-0.2%) and Water supply (-0.2%). In contrast, the index of Agriculture, forestry & fishing increased 1.1 per cent

PPI local production for second quarter 2019 decreased 1.6 per cent to 105.1 as compared to 106.8 in the same quarter of the previous year. The decline was contributed by the index of Agriculture, forestry & fishing (-11.3%), Water supply (-2.3%), Mining (-1.9%) and Manufacturing (-0.7%). Meanwhile, the index of Electricity & gas supply showed an increase of 1.5 per cent.  On a quarterly basis, the PPI local production increased 0.4 per cent as compared to the first quarter of 2019.

PRODUCER PRICE INDEX BY STAGE OF PROCESSING

In June 2019, the PPI local production by stage of processing (SOP) declined 1.8 per cent. The decreased was attributed by Crude materials for further processing (-7.0%) and Intermediate materials, supplies & components (-1.4%). Conversely, the index for Finished goods rose 1.3 per cent.

On a monthly basis, the PPI local production by SOP for June 2019 decreased 0.9 per cent. This was due to the index of Crude materials for further processing (-3.8%) and Intermediate materials, supplies & components (-0.8%). However, the index for Finished goods increased 0.4 per cent.
