Consumer Price Index in 2017 rose by 3.7%

The Producer Price Index (PPI) for local production rose by 4.3 per cent on a year -on- year basis in November 2017, 0.4 points lower compared to 4.7 per cent in October 2017. Among the sectors which showed increases during this period were Mining (+30.7%), Manufacturing (+2.8%), Electricity & gas supply (+0.5%) and Water supply (+0.2%). Meanwhile, the index for Agriculture, forestry & fishing decreased (-1.8%).

On a monthly basis, PPI for local production increased by 0.7 per cent in November 2017. The increases was driven by three sectors namely Mining (+4.6%), Manufacturing (+0.4%), Electricity & gas supply (+0.2%). Meanwhile, the index for both Agriculture, forestry & fishing and Water supply registered a decreased 0.3 per cent. [Table I].

 


 

The PPI for local production by stage of processing (SOP) moved up 0.7 per cent in November 2017. This was due to increases in the indices for Crude materials for further processing (+3.2%) and Finished goods (+0.1%). Meanwhile, Intermediate materials, supplies and components remained unchanged.

As compared with the same month a year ago, the PPI for local production by SOP for November 2017 increased 4.3 per cent. The increases were fuelled by the index for Crude materials for further processing (+13.6%), Intermediate materials, supplies and components (+2.8%) and Finished goods (+0.3%). [Table II].
