Producer Price Index (2010=100) by Sector (MSIC 2008)
The Producer Price Index (PPI) for local production rose by 4.7 per cent on a year -on- year basis in October 2017, 1.3 points lower compared to 6.0 per cent in September 2017. Among the sectors which showed significant increases during this period were Mining (+19.6%), Agriculture, forestry & fishing (+4.3%), Manufacturing (+3.6%) and Electricity & gas supply (+0.3%). Meanwhile, the index for Water supply decreased 0.3 per cent.
On a monthly basis, PPI for local production declined by 0.6 per cent in October 2017. The decrease was driven by three sectors namely, Agriculture, forestry & fishing (-1.4%), Manufacturing (-0.6%) and Electricity & gas supply (-0.2%). Meanwhile, the indices for Mining and Water supply registered increases by (+0.7%) and (+0.4%) respectively. [Table I]
The PPI for local production by stage of processing (SOP) dropped 0.6 per cent in October 2017. This decline was due to decreases in the indices for intermediate materials, supplies and components (-0.8%) and Finished goods (-0.8%). Meanwhile, Crude materials for further processing increased 0.8 per cent.
As compared with the same month a year ago, the PPI for local production by SOP for October 2017 increased 4.7 per cent. The increases were fuelled by the index for Crude materials for further processing (+10.2%), Intermediate materials, supplies and components (+4.9%) and Finished goods (+0.2%). [Table II]
