PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (2010=100) BY SECTOR (MSIC 2008)
The Producer Price Index (PPI) local production increased 3.5 per cent in December 2019 to 107.4 as against 103.8 in the same month of the preceding year. The index of Agriculture, forestry & fishing and Mining recorded a double digit increase by 21.9 per cent and 19.3 per cent respectively, followed by Electricity and gas supply 1.2 per cent and Manufacturing 0.5 per cent. Conversely, the index of water supply decreased 2.9 per cent.
On a monthly basis, the PPI local production rose 0.8 per cent in December 2019. The increase was supported by the Agriculture, forestry & fishing (2.6%), Mining (2.1%), Electricity & gas supply (0.7%) and Manufacturing (0.6%). On the other hand, the index of Water supply was unchanged. [Table 1]

PPI LOCAL PRODUCTION FOR FOURTH QUARTER 2019
PPI local production for the fourth quarter 2019 increased 0.6 per cent to 106.3 as compared to 105.7 in the same quarter of the previous year. The increased was contributed by Agriculture, forestry & fishing (14.1%), Electricity & gas supply (1.0%) and Mining (0.8%) indices. Meanwhile, the index of Water supply and Manufacturing recorded a decrease of 2.3 per cent and 0.5 per cent respectively. On a quarterly basis, the PPI local production increased 1.4 per cent as compared to the third quarter of 2019. [Table 2]

The PPI local production for the year 2019 registered a decrease of 1.4 per cent as compared to last year.
PRODUCER PRICE INDEX BY STAGE OF PROCESSING
In December 2019, the PPI local production by stage of processing (SOP) increased 3.5 per cent as compared to December 2018. It was contributed by Crude materials for further processing (16.0%), Finished goods (1.2%) and Intermediate materials, supplies & components (0.4%) indices.
On a monthly basis, the PPI local production by SOP for December 2019 increased 0.8 per cent as compared to November 2019. The increase was contributed by Crude materials for further processing (3.5%) and Finished goods (0.5%) indices. Meanwhile, the index of Intermediate materials, supplies & components was unchanged.
