PRODUCER PRICE INDEX (2010=100) BY SECTOR (MSIC 2008)
The Producer Price Index (PPI) for local production decreased 3.7 per cent in December 2018 as compared to the same month of the previous year. The decrease in the overall index was contributed by the decline in Agriculture, forestry & fishing (-17.6%), Mining (-4.3%) and Manufacturing (-2.6%). Conversely, the index of Electricity & gas supply and Water supply grew 1.6 per cent and 0.8 per cent respectively.
As compared to the previous month, the PPI for local production declined 1.3 per cent in December 2018. This was due to the decline in Mining (-8.9%) and Manufacturing (-0.7%). Meanwhile, the index of three sectors increased namely Agriculture, forestry & fishing (0.9%), Water supply (0.6%) and Electricity & gas supply (0.1%).
PRODUCER PRICE INDEX BY STAGE OF PROCESSING
The PPI for local production by stage of processing (SOP) dropped 3.7 per cent in December 2018 as against the same month last year. It was led by the decline of all indices of which Crude materials for further processing (-9.9%), Intermediate materials, supplies & components (-2.3%) and Finished goods (-1.9%).
On a monthly basis, the PPI for local production by SOP for December 2018 decreased 1.3 per cent which was contributed by Crude materials for further processing (-5.5%) and Intermediate materials, supplies & components (-0.7%). On the other hand, Finished goods increased 0.7 per cent.
