About MyStats 2016

The first Statistics Conference (MyStats) was held in 2012 at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia to provide a platform for statisticians, analysts, economists, policy makers, academicians and the media to share, discuss and highlight statistical issues in analysis and policy formulation as well as challenges in the compilation and communication of statistics. A greater collaboration between the compilers of statistics and the users of statistics would further improve data compilation, communication and usage of statistics in the country. The conference theme, “Enhancing National Statistics to Meet Public and Private Sectors Needs during a Period of Transformation” attracted 150 participants with 14 papers presented.

In 2013, the second (MyStats 2013) was organised with the theme "Promoting Innovation in Economic and Financial Statistics to Support Policy Making in a Dynamic Environment". There were 300 participants from the private and public sectors as well as users and compilers of statistics attended the conference.  23 papers were presented and discussed.  The conference proceedings for MyStats 2012 and 2013 can be downloaded here.

The third National Statistics Conference, MyStats 2015 was held last November with the theme “Enriching Statistics in an Inter-connected and Digital World" in line with the rapid transmission of information which pushed forward the demands for highly granular and in-depth statistics in various areas to enable analytics, diagnosis and ultimately decision making. Twenty nine papers were presented and more than seven hundred participants gathered in Sasana Kijang for the event.

The 4th Malaysia Statistics Conference (MyStats 2016), will be held on Tuesday, 15 November 2016 at Sasana Kijang, Bank Negara Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.  With the theme "Strengthening Statistical Usage for Decisions and Innovation", MyStats 2016 aims to provide a platform to discuss and promote more usage of statistics for decision making and innovation with better collaboration among the compilers, statisticians, researchers (academia and private analysts) and industry practitioners, including policy makers.  The conference is structured with one main session, several parallel sessions and panel discussion sessions.

We are now inviting you to contribute papers for the conference.  We encourage statisticians, researchers and practitioners to showcase the researches or studies which have been successfully completed and findings that were used or could be useful for decision making or innovation at the conference.  Participation in the conference is FREE.
