The aims of this workshop are to showcase the Roadmap SEEA for Malaysia 2016-2020 and to present some of the results from the pilot SEEA water and energy accounts.
SEEA is a system for organizing statistical data for the derivation of coherent indicators and descriptive statistics to monitor the interactions between the economy and the environment and the state of the environment for better informed decision-making. This RM-SEEA provides the foundation for initiating national statistical development towards improving decisions related to sustainable development and green economy. This document is prepared based on the assessment that has identified policy priorities and institutional and statistical capacity for Malaysia.
RM-SEEA identified three potential SEEA accounts that could be developed in Malaysia namely energy, water and land accounts. Pilot accounts for SEEA-energy was compiled by DOSM and that of SEEA-water was constructed with the assistance of UPM research team.
