migration effectiveness ratio
Description

An index that assesses the effectiveness of migration in redistributing the population.

migration survey
Description

Collects information on respondents' usual place of residence at two specific points of time which are exactly one year apart.  Changes in the usual place of residence locality at these two points in time constitute migration. Population that changes its usual place of residence across state boundary is known as inter-state migrant.

Millennium Development Goals (MDG)
Description
MDG was introduced during United Nations Millennium Summit in New York in September 2000. World leaders have made the resolution to strengthen global efforts for peace, democracy, good governance, and poverty eradication while continuing to promote the principles of human rights and human dignity. The Millennium Declaration have made a strong commitment to the right to development, to gender equality and the empowerment of women, to the eradication of the many dimensions of poverty, and to sustainable human development.

Description
Wastes separated out during  the processing of crops and mineral ores, including residues of raw materials. Mine Tailings can be found in the air, water and soil.

mineral exploration
Description

Mineral exploration consists of the value of expenditures on exploration for petroleum and natural gas and for non-petroleum deposits. It includes prelicence costs, licence and acquisition costs, appraisal costs and the costs of actual test drilling and boring, as well as the costs of aerial and other surveys, transportation costs, etc, incurred to make it possible to carry out the tests.

Description

Mining is defined as the extraction, dressing and beneficiating of minerals occurring naturally as solids, such as coal and ores, liquids, such as crude oil, or gases, such as natural gas. Mining also includes underground and surface mines, quarries and wells and all supplemental  activities for dressing and beneficiating ores and other crude minerals such as crushing, screening, washing, cleaning, grading, milling, flotation, melting, pelleting, topping and other preparations needed to render the material marketable. Mining activities are classified into groups on the basis of the principal mineral produced.
